Thesis Report and Presentation

The thesis report primarily studies two possible structural solutions to eliminating ASCE 7-05 defined irregularities. Eliminating the code defined irregularities will allow the facility's owners to use a similar building design in more seismically active regions. To ensure that the structure can be practically constructed, the direct general construction costs and construction logisitcs were studied. In the attempt to reduce the building's weight, a facade redesign was implemented. Here the original concrete masonry back-up wall was replaced with lightweight CFS studs. Whether the two possible structural solutions and use of light weight CFS studs are adventageous, are discussed in the report.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐inprogress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Thaison Nguyen. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design
